Sophia Young (Vikander) is married to a wealthy merchant (Waltz). Though not reciprocate the feelings, it is ready to fulfill his desires and give him children. Proud Cornelius orders at the famous painter (Dane DeHaan) portrait, which wants to be immortalized with his beloved. He does not see that between Sophia and beautiful young artist born feeling. Along with the blossoming of love, a couple of falls the shadow of suspicion, and the mystery begins to pose a growing risk. Young lovers deceptive devise a plan that will allow them to start a new life. Their desires lead story to rousing and unexpected ending.

Dobrze przedstawia ówczesne czasy i zwyczaje. Ukazuje ludzką chciwość, naiwność i pierwszą piramidę finansową. Po to został nakręcony.

Nie rozumem po co i dlaczego ktos nakręcił ten film i dlaczego ktoś miałby go oglądać. Przewidywalna historia, płascy bohaterowie, brak logiki w wydarzeniach. Ładne i wyciskające łzy. Dla fanów Titanica.
